The Liberal and ³Ô¹ÏÍøÕ¾ parties continue to support any move to ensure Paul Denyer remains behind bars for life.
Our commitment to the families of the victims is to work with them until the law is changed. The Liberals and ³Ô¹ÏÍøÕ¾s introduced legislation in June this year to give the victims’ families, friends and the Frankston community comfort and certainty that Denyer cannot make further applications for parole and will never be released.
Shadow Minister for Corrections, Brad Battin, said: “A number of our team including Emma Kealy, Chris Crewther and myself have been in regular dialogue with the families and friends of Natalie Russell, Elizabeth Stevens and Debbie Fream over a long period of time and advocated strongly on their behalf.
“The most important fact in all of this is as a Parliament we have an opportunity to now end any further unnecessary grief for them. That’s why we introduced legislation in June and we are pleased that Labor has now reversed its opposition and will introduce a bill to ensure he is never released.”
