Stawell Sports and Aquatics Centre (SSAC) is launching an array of new memberships for existing and prospective centre users effective from 22 June 2022. The model should prove more affordable and entice residents to make use of the centre in a way that works better for them.
There are four categories of membership – Gold, Silver, Bronze and Platinum – providing members with the opportunity to tailor their membership according to the areas they use within the Houston Street centre whether it is gym, fitness classes, aquatics or indoor sports.
SSAC membership will cost as little as $10.95 per week for concession card holders who take up a Bronze membership. The Platinum membership is completely free but limited to residents who are over 75 years subject to meeting fitness assessment criteria.
There is no sign up fee or lock in contract and existing members have already been emailed to encourage them to move across to the new affordable, customisable model.
Northern Grampians Shire Council Mayor, Cr Tony Driscoll hopes the new memberships will prove popular.
“SSAC has a lot to offer under one roof and this new tiered membership should encourage residents to find real value in our centre,” said Cr Driscoll.
“If members only use one area of the centre, then they are no longer paying to use another area which represents a nice saving for them annually.
“The free Platinum membership for the over 75s in particular should incentivise grandparents to use the centre free of charge and do things like take their grandchildren swimming for example.
“The cost of living is on the rise. This is one way Council can give back to the community with an incentive to improve their health and wellbeing.”
