With Commonwealth ³Ô¹ÏÍøÕ¾ Parks closed this weekend, people are reminded that as well as road closures, it is unacceptable to attempt to access Parks by boat or any other means.
COVID-19 restrictions mean that nobody should be looking to holiday this Easter and Commonwealth ³Ô¹ÏÍøÕ¾ Park Rangers will impose fines on any non-essential visitor in Park Areas.
Accessing places such as Booderee ³Ô¹ÏÍøÕ¾ Park in south-eastern NSW by coastline not only endangers the health of those involved but also that of at-risk communities in the Park, and fines will apply.
Booderee ³Ô¹ÏÍøÕ¾ Park is closed meaning that no travellers or non-essential visitors may enter the park for any reason – no fishing, surfing, camping, bike riding or bushwalking or launching a boat and no boat arrivals.
In the Northern Territory, Uluru-Kata Tjuta and Kakadu ³Ô¹ÏÍøÕ¾ Parks are closed to mitigate the spread of COVID-19 and protect vulnerable Indigenous communities.
Staff in these national parks are working hard to ensure travellers are complying with the restrictions and continue to undertake their core duties, caring for some of our nation’s most beautiful cultural and natural areas. We wholeheartedly look forward to welcoming you back to these areas in the future.
I urge everyone to instead think of this long-weekend as a time we can focus on our collective strength and demonstrate patience and kindness to one another. We can start doing this by staying home.
