STEM Faire to spark passion this ³Ô¹ÏÍøÕ¾ Science Week

Everyone from prep kids to professionals are invited to the Townsville STEM Faire to be inspired by the study of science, technology, engineering and maths this ³Ô¹ÏÍøÕ¾ Science Week.

As a city, Council is focused on providing an enviable lifestyle with vibrancy, benefits and facilities through delivering world class education, training and research opportunities to residents and visitors to Townsville.

That’s why Council’s Townsville Citylibraries and the Townsville STEM Hub are teaming up for the Townsville STEM Faire at Citylibraries Riverway on Saturday 19 August.

Community and Cultural Development Committee chairperson Ann-Maree Greaney said the event would have something to inspire everyone interested in STEM.

“We know that STEM is so important to our future and keeping our city at the forefront of growing industries. That’s why we’re thrilled to be highlighting science, technology, engineering and maths at this free event for the community to enjoy,” Cr Greaney said.

“The day out will include live science shows, talks by leading researchers, fun challenges, hands-on activities, science play time for kids, and so much more.

“This event is open to anyone who is interested, but to the parents out there I would specifically encourage you to come along to help your kids ignite a passion for STEM.

“As a city we’re proud to be home to so many incredible young people who are immersed in STEM hobbies and education, and the popularity of events like these is proof that there’s an appetite for STEM from our children and teenagers.”

The Townsville STEM Faire will run from 8am to 3pm on Saturday 19 August at Citylibraries Riverway.

This ³Ô¹ÏÍøÕ¾ Science Week project is proudly supported by the Australian Government, with additional support from Smart Precinct NQ and James Cook University.
