Stolen Car At Gold Coast

Police have charged three people after tracking a stolen car on the Gold Coast last night, April 4.

At approximately 7.50pm, police sighted a Hyundai Elantra that had been reported stolen from a home in Upper Coomera earlier that night.

Polair assisted in tracking the vehicle and police will allege it was seen driving on the wrong side of the road, swerving through other cars, and driving in excess of 180km/h on the Pacific Motorway.

Police tracked the vehicle to an underground carpark on Manchester Road, Carrara, where two people allegedly abandoned the Hyundai Elantra and got into a Toyota Corolla with two others, which exited the carpark and was followed by police to Clear Island Waters.

Police intercepted the Toyota Corolla, which is not stolen, at the intersection of Santa Cruz Boulevard and Key Biscayne at approximately 9.05pm.

The four occupants of the vehicle were arrested at the scene.

The driver of the Corolla has since been released without charge.

A 44-year-old Oxenford woman, who was allegedly the passenger of the Toyota Corolla, has been charged one count each of possessing dangerous drugs, possess property suspected of having been used in connection with the commission of a drug offence, fail to take reasonable care and precautions in respect of syringe or needle and breach of bail condition.

She has been refused police bail and is due to appear in Southport Magistrates Court today, April 5.

A 19-year-old Oxenford man, who was allegedly initially traveling in the Hyundai Elantra, has been charged with one count each of unlawful use of a motor vehicle, dangerous operation of a motor vehicle and two counts of breach of bail conditions.

He has been refused police bail and is due to appear in the Southport Magistrates Court today, April 5.

A 17-year-old Oxenford girl, who was allegedly initially traveling in the Hyundai Elantra, has been charged with one count each of unlawful use of a motor vehicle and possess property suspected of having been acquired for the purpose of committing a drug offence.

She has been refused police bail and is due to appear at the Southport Childrens Court today, April 5.

Investigations into the initial reported stealing of the Hyundai Elantra are ongoing.
