Stolen car intercepted in Toowoomba, QLD

A man and two teenage boys have been charged after a stolen vehicle crashed in a paddock and caught fire in Toowoomba yesterday.

It will be alleged the white Range Rover which was stolen from Mountain Creek on March 24 was spotted by police travelling on West Street in North Toowoomba yesterday around 11.50am.

PolAir was notified and continued to track the vehicle as it drove across the Toowoomba area.

The stolen car was allegedly seen driving at speeds of up to 130 kilometres per hour along suburban streets, on the wrong side of the road and through red traffic signals.

At 1:45pm police successfully deployed a tyre deflation device on the stolen vehicle on Honey Street, hitting all four tyres.

The vehicle failed to stop and allegedly continued to travel onto West Street southbound before veering off the road and into a paddock.

The Range Rover drove through several fences on Kearney Street in Top Camp before colliding with a tree.

Three males were allegedly seen fleeing the vehicle and police quickly apprehended one of them, a 17-year-old boy.

Members of the Dog Squad were deployed to track the remaining two who allegedly ran off into bushland.

As police gave chase the Range Rover caught fire and was completely destroyed.

A 22-year-old man and a 15-year-old boy were arrested soon after in a garden shed on Cebra Court.

A 22-year-old man has been charged with two counts each of failure to stop vehicle, wilful damage and one count each of dangerous operation of a motor vehicle, burglary, evasion, obstruct police, receiving tainted property, stealing and unlawful use of a motor vehicle.

He is due to appear in Toowoomba Magistrates Court today.

A 17-year-old Maroochydore boy was charged with unlawful use of a motor vehicle, receiving tainted property and burglary while a 15-year-old Withcott boy was charged with unlawful use of a motor vehicle.

They will both be dealt with under the provisions of the Youth Justice Act.
