Yarra Ranges Council is pleased to be able to provide a second, targeted, Special Storm Event Tree Branch Collection for residents in suburbs who were severely impacted by the June 2021 storm, thanks to funding from Bushfire Recovery Victoria
This collection will enable residents to remove tree branches from their property that are up 250mm thick and 3m long.
Residents will be required to register for this service using the online registration form at www.yarraranges.vic.gov.au/recovery/Special-Storm-Event-Branch-Collection
The second round of the Special Storm Event Tree Branch Collection is only available to residents living in suburbs that were severely impacted by the June 2021 storm. These suburbs include: Selby, Kallista, Tremont, Ferny Creek, Sassafras, Olinda, Monbulk, Silvan, Kalorama, Mount Dandenong, Wandin and Mount Evelyn.
Registrations close 15 August 2022 and branch material will only be collected from the kerbside of properties that have registered for this collection.
The collection will commence from 15 August, and it is expected that it will take contractors up to two weeks to collect the material.
Yarra Ranges Council Mayor Jim Child said Council recognises that the June storm was a very significant and unusual event and hopes that this collection will help residents reduce some of the smaller debris still on their properties.
“We understand that some residents are still undergoing a clean-up and require larger material to be removed.”
“While this collection is for small branch material that fell during the June 2021 storm, Council is exploring options for larger branches, logs and tree roots if your insurance has not included the removal of these.”

Council’s standard bundled branch pick up program commences in November.
