Storytime in streets – 23 October

Swan Hill Regional Library will take stories to the streets for a special Children’s Week roving Storytime on Wednesday, 23 October.

Roving Storytime will involve children, their parents and carers taking a guided walk along Swan Hill’s main street.

Swan Hill Rural City Council Libraries Manager Camille Cullinan said the tour would visit Mallee Pet Supplies, Tristar Medical Centre, the Post Office and Westpac Bank.

“Roving Storytime starts at the library with the children having a story read by Swan Hill District Health Promotion staff, who will be dressed up as fruit and vegetables. They are then taken on a walk, singing nursery rhymes as they go. There are stories read to them along the way and they’ll even have the chance to pet baby animals,” she said.

“Noah’s Ark will also have a display at the Community Tree so the children can have fun with games, bubbles and playdough.

“We will finish up with a free healthy picnic lunch at the park behind the clock tower, where the children will be greeted by emergency services personnel.

“The flashing lights and sirens are always a huge hit with the kids, and they will also learn about different emergency services jobs and see a demonstration of their equipment.”

Roving Storytime starts at 10am from the Swan Hill Regional Library on Wednesday, 23 October. Children will need a hat, comfortable shoes, a water bottle and sunscreen.

This is a free event and bookings are not necessary.
