Hobart Lord Mayor Anna Reynolds has welcomed the strategic review of kunanyi/Mt Wellington announced by Tasmania’s Business, Industry and Resources minister Eric Abetz overnight.
“This is a significant step forward to future proofing this iconic natural asset,” Cr Reynolds said.
“It is our collective responsibility to ensure its preservation and carefully manage any enhancements and that is why we have long lobbied for attention to be given to this much-loved site, including through the recent state election and it is pleasing to see the Tasmanian Government has listened.
“We look forward to working collaboratively with the Tasmanian Government and in partnership with the Wellington Park Management Trust and the community on this important strategic review.”
