Works have begun on the suggested upgrades which were established through an extensive engagement process with community members.
Strathbogie Shire Mayor Cr Laura Binks said the works were in response to draft designs presented to the communities late last year.
“The draft designs were formulated based on initial community consultation which was undertaken in early 2021,” Cr Binks said.
“We then developed and took these draft designs back out to our community for feedback via our online engagement platform Share Strathbogie.
“Council received lots of suggestions from residents on the draft designs and we were able to clearly understand what they wanted for the first stage to update the streetscapes of these three towns.
“Our contractors are ready to start works in Longwood followed by Avenel and Euroa and we anticipate that the works will be completed by late July, as long as the weather is kind to our contractors,” Cr Binks said.
“For Strathbogie and Violet Town, we still need to consolidate what residents prefer for their streetscape renewal.
“To do this, we’ll be calling for Expression of Interests from residents to join a working group to help us further develop their plans.
“These streetscape designs are an integral part of shaping a community’s identity and improving a sense of wellbeing and belonging, “Cr Brinks added.
