Strike Force Dobem detectives charge two men over drug importation, NSW

Two men will face court today charged by NSW Police Force over the importation of methylamphetamine, which was detected by Australian Border Force (ABF) officers.

In April 2019, detectives from Sydney City Police Area Command formed Strike Force Dobem to investigate air cargo and postal importations of prohibited drugs within their command.

On Wednesday (22 January 2020), Strike Force Dobem investigators received a referral from ABF relating to the importation of 1kg of methylamphetamine in an air cargo consignment.

Following extensive inquiries, three men – aged 29, 31, and 39 – were arrested at a shopping complex in Wentworth Point and taken to Burwood Police Station about 5.30pm yesterday (Friday 24 January 2020).

The 29-year-old man and 31-year-old man were both charged with two counts of Import commercial quantity of border-controlled drug

Both men, who are Malaysian ³Ô¹ÏÍøÕ¾s, were refused bail to appear at Parramatta Local Court today (Saturday 25 January 2020).

The 39-year-old man was released, pending further inquiries.

Investigations under Strike Force Dobem are continuing.
