Strike Force Opelika formed to investigate damaged vehicles

Police have established Strike Force Opelika to investigate numerous graffiti incidents targeting luxury cars across Sydney’s inner west and east this month.

Officers from Kings Cross Police Area Command commenced investigations after receiving reports of vehicles damaged in Darlinghurst.

Police were told, between 7pm on Tuesday 27 August 2024 and 9am on Wednesday 28 August 2024, multiple vehicles on Victoria Street, Thompson Street and Surrey Street, Darlinghurst, had been spray painted.

About 6am yesterday, (Wednesday 28 August 2024) police were called to Boundary Street, Liverpool Street and Glenview Street, Paddington, following reports of further vehicles damaged.

Officers attached to Eastern Suburbs Police Area Command attended the scenes and found several vehicles had been graffitied.

As inquiries into the incidents continue, Central Metropolitan Region have established Strike Force Opelika to investigate the incidents, which are believed to be linked.

SF Opelika detectives have today released images of a man who may be able to assist with their inquiries.

He is depicted in the images as being of Caucasian appearance, with dark hair.
