Strike Force Trident – Arrests – Northern Suburbs

Two separate incidents over the weekend lead to quick arrests thanks to Police CCTV Operators.

During the early hours on Saturday, a 29-year-old man was allegedly dealing drugs at a carpark in Palmerston. CCTV Operators alerted nearby Trident members, who then headed to the scene.

Upon police arrival, the man has attempted to reverse his vehicle and flee but was unsuccessful due to police cordoning off the area. When exiting the vehicle, the man was allegedly trying to throw away the drugs and push them underneath the vehicle.

He was arrested without incident and during a body search police located multiple mobile phones and sim cards.

The 29-year-old was taken to the Watch House and charged with drug offences. He is due to appear before Darwin Local Court today.

Later that evening, CCTV Operators were monitoring a group of youths near a service station in Malak, when the group carjacked a vehicle stopped for fuel.

The victim was placed in a headlock and dragged from the vehicle by the group before they fled in the victim’s vehicle.

Operators captured the incident on camera and continued to track the group, alerting Trident and Dog Ops members.

Police were able to track the vehicle through the rural area before deploying tyre deflation devices in Karama and the group abandoning the vehicle in Tiwi.

Patrol Dog Drax moved in and located a male youth hiding in a downstairs storeroom at a residence in Tiwi. A second male youth was also arrested fleeing in a nearby park area.

Both youths have been charged with aggravated robbery offences.

Strike Force Trident are continuing to investigate and locate the remaining offenders.
