Stroke Foundation is delighted to announce the appointment of Ms Shelly Park as its new Vice President of the board commencing 1 September 2024.
Ms Park takes the role from Mr Chris Nunn, who served a three-year term as Vice President and six years on the board, and officially stepped down in May 2024.
With more than 25 years’ experience in CEO and senior executive roles and governing complex organisations, Ms Park said she was delighted to be granted the opportunity to serve as Stroke Foundation’s Vice President.
“I’m looking forward to joining the Stroke Foundation board and supporting the organisation in its work to prevent stroke, save lives and enhance recovery,” Ms Park said.
“As Australians face cost-of-living pressures and the health system faces increasing challenges and demands, now is a critical time for organisations like Stroke Foundation to lead national conversations and drive improvements to stroke care and needs.”
Ms Park currently serves as the Chair of Ambulance Victoria’s Board of Directors and is a Director of St John God of Health Care. She has previously served on the Australian Organ and Tissue Donation and Transplantation (OTA) Advisory Board, Defence Health Board, Australian Commission in Safety and Quality in Healthcare, and she was the Director and CEO of Australian Red Cross Lifeblood from 2016 to 2022 and Chief Executive Officer of Monash Health from 2007 to 2016.
Stroke Foundation Chief Executive Officer Dr Lisa Murphy welcomed the appointment of Ms Park, acknowledging her outstanding leadership and extensive experience in public health.
“We are very excited to have Shelly Park join the board as our new Vice President,” Dr Murphy said.
“Shelly comes at an exciting time as we finalise our next strategy and look to set the strategic goals of the organisation over the coming decade. Her extensive experience and leadership in strategy, health, risk, finance, and governance brings enormous value to the stroke community and in helping Stroke Foundation deliver on our ambitious strategy for stroke prevention, treatment and enhanced recovery.”
