Northern Territory Police and Northern Territory Fire and Rescue Service are investigating a cause of a structure fire in Darwin city this morning.
The Joint Emergency Services Call Centre received multiple calls around 6:30am of a building on fire on Cavenagh Street, Darwin City.
All services responded, including fire units from Darwin and Marrara fire stations.
Firefighters were able to quickly extinguish the blaze in the unoccupied building, which has been extensively damaged.
Territory Duty Superintendent Meghan Funnell said, “Roads in the immediate vicinity were closed while crews responded to the fire, which appears to have originated in a business on the first floor of a two-storey building.”
Knuckey and Cavenagh Streets have since reopened. Austin Lane remains closed as investigations continue.
