Student showcase to fill Logan Art Gallery

Woodridge State High School Year 12 student Moe Min is the artist behind the Boy in red which will be on display at the Logan Art Gallery as part of Artwaves.

The creativity and talent of high school students from the City of Logan and adjacent areas will be on display at the Logan Art Gallery.

Artwaves 2020: Logan and adjacent areas secondary schools art exhibition takes over the entire gallery from September 11 to October 17.

Now in its 28th year, the exhibition will bring together 31 different schools and 180 students from years seven to 12.

Each year, Artwaves recognises, promotes and celebrates the creative excellence of young artists in the region.

It also acknowledges the important contribution made by teachers and parents in nurturing student creativity and helping to develop the next generation of local artists.

Artworks have been selected by an Artwaves 2020 committee comprising Logan Art Gallery staff and visual art teachers from participating schools.

Those schools are: Beaudesert State High School (SHS), Beenleigh SHS, Browns Plains SHS, Calamvale Community College, Calvary Christian College, Canterbury College, Flagstone Community College, Groves Christian College, Hills International College, John Paul College, Kimberley College, Kingston College, Loganlea SHS, Mabel Park SHS, Marsden SHS, Ormeau Woods SHS, Park Ridge SHS, Parklands Christian College, Redeemer Lutheran College, Rivermount College, Rochedale SHS, Runcorn SHS, Shailer Park SHS, Springwood SHS, St Francis College, St Thomas More College, Stretton State College, Sunnybank SHS Trinity College, Windaroo Valley SHS and Woodridge SHS.

When you visit Logan Art Gallery don’t forget to vote for your favourite student artwork.

The student with the most votes wins a prize from the Artwaves sponsors: Buckham School Supplies, Eckersley’s Art and Craft and Oxlades and School Art Supplies.
