Students’ thankyou for fire fight

Haddon Primary School students have given the money they raised for their school’s ice cream fun day to their local fire brigade as a thankyou for their role in fighting the recent Bunker’s Hill fires.

Students' thankyou for fire fight

Haddon captain Graeme Morris thanks students for their generosity.

The students presented the $700 to Haddon Fire Brigade on Friday (5 April) after they decided to donate the money they raised from a crazy hair day to CFA rather than spend it on an end-of-term ice cream party as they had previously planned.

The students also presented a card of thanks to the brigade.

Many of the students were impacted by the fires which burned 150 hectares of land in Bunkers Hill, Smythes Creek, Haddon, Lucas and Ross Creek in late March.

The fire destroyed homes and other buildings as well as livestock; flames came within three kilometres of the school.

Haddon captain Graeme Morris thanked the students and wider community for the generous donation.

He said the money would be put towards dash cams for the brigade’s three vehicles.
