Council is seeking community input about pedestrian and cyclist safety concerns on roads within the CBD areas of Warragul and Drouin.
Having successfully secured a grant from the Transport Accident Commission, Baw Baw Shire Council has appointed HDS Australia to investigate the active transport concerns of pedestrians and cyclists including high traffic volume, limited sightlines, and limited pedestrian safety refuges within the two growing towns.
To gain accurate insights, HDS Australia will communicate directly with local walking and cycling groups to gather their feedback, as well as undertaking on-the-ground investigations into identified problem areas.
Following the consultation phase of the project, HDS Australia will consolidate the responses and feedback gathered from the community and from site inspections, as well as reviewing crash and incident data, to prepare a report that will outline recommended actions and associated costs to improve pedestrian and cyclist safety in the target areas.
How to get involved
All community members are invited to provide their input by completing a short online survey that will be made available on from 8:30am on Monday 11 April 2022.
The survey will remain open until Sunday 1 May 2022.
As a Council we want to everything we can to encourage an active lifestyle. Re-evaluating existing pedestrian and cycling safety measures, particularly in light of the rapid population growth in Drouin and Warragul, is an important step.
