- Western Australian builders and developers of all sizes are invited to lodge submissions through the ‘Call for Submissions for Social Housing’ initiative
- Submissions will assist the Cook Government with adding new homes through the record $3.2 billion investment in housing and homelessness measures
- Submissions demonstrating value-for-money, innovation and sustainability highly regarded
The Cook Government is calling for expressions of interest from builders and developers of all sizes to bolster the supply of social housing throughout Western Australia.
The ‘Call for Submissions for Social Housing’ (CFS-SH) initiative invites private industry to help deliver liveable and sustainable apartment and grouped dwelling residential developments (of up to 30 homes) for social housing in Perth and regional Western Australia.
Submissions under the CFS-SH that have development approval and have a builder ready to go, demonstrate value-for-money, innovation, and sustainable development initiatives will be highly regarded.
The CFS-SH is supported by the $843 million increase in funding provided by the 2024-25 State Budget.
The funding boost brings the Cook Labor Government’s total investment in housing and homelessness measures since 2021-22 to a record $3.2 billion.
This record funding increases the total number of new social homes funded in this term of Government to almost 5,000 – of which more than 2,200 have already been delivered, while more than 1,500 homes have also been refurbished, significantly extending their useful life.
Submissions can be made to the Department of Communities until 2 July 2025.
As stated by Housing Minister John Carey:
“The Cook Government is doing everything it can to increase the supply of housing in Western Australia.
“Our record $3.2 billion investment in housing and homelessness measures is supporting delivery of 5,000 new social homes, with more than 2,200 dwellings already completed, with a further 1,000 under contract or construction for future delivery.
“The ‘Call for Submissions for Social Housing’ initiative partners with the private sector to broaden delivery of social housing in Western Australia.”
