Latrobe City Council endorsed the Draft 2024/2025 Budget at its April Council Meeting and is now seeking submissions.
Community members are invited to review the Draft Budget and make a submission before Monday 6 May 2024.
The draft budget has been shaped by community priorities and aspirations highlighted through responses received to Council’s community consultation survey undertaken in November 2023. The community expressed a desire for Council to continue to invest and provide an even greater focus in key areas, including, Public Open Space, Family Services, Parking and Footpaths and Roads.
The Draft Budget is presented on a cash basis as a balanced Budget that aims to support the strategies and objectives of the Council Plan 2021-2025. The Capital works program includes investment in renewing existing infrastructure of $24.1 million with $13.3 million of this being committed to the municipal road network.
Key capital works projects to be completed include the upgrade of the Marshalls Road/Traralgon-Maffra Road Intersection, completing the next stage of the Gippsland Logistics Precinct, continued delivery of the Regional Car Parks Fund in Traralgon and Morwell, flood recovery projects and refurbishment of Park Lane Pre School.
Among Council’s capital works budget, three new projects have been included in direct response to prior budget submissions received. These include a new skatepark at Tyers Community Park, a new playground in the newly established Range Estate in Morwell and the resurfacing of tennis courts at the Traralgon Tennis Complex.
Mayor of Latrobe City Council, Councillor Darren Howe encourages community members to share their ideas about the projects, services and initiatives included in the Draft Budget.
“The Draft Budget is an integral part of resourcing the directions in the Council Plan 2021-2025, which was informed by extensive community engagement. Thank you to all those in the community who contributed to our community consultation survey in November, which helped to guide Councillors in developing the draft budget. We welcome ongoing input from community members to understand their views of projects that are important for Latrobe City,” said the Mayor.
“Council encourages the community to engage in the Draft Budget process by making a submission via the Have Your Say Latrobe City platform.”
