A Sudanese-born man is expected to appear in the Melbourne Magistrates’ Court today (7 June, 2024) charged with allegedly failing to comply with his visa-mandated curfew conditions.
The AFP charged the man, aged 42, today (7 June, 2024), after locating him in Melbourne.
It will be alleged the man breached the conditions of his Commonwealth visa on 5 June and 6 June, 2024, by failing to observe his residential curfew obligations.
The man has been charged with:
- Two counts of failing to comply with a curfew condition, contrary to section 76C(1) of the Migration Act 1958 (Cth).
This offence carries a maximum penalty of five years’ imprisonment and a $93,900 fine.
