Council resolved to approve a Development Application (DA) for the use of an existing building and associated retaining walls and earthworks for the purposes of a dwelling at 49 Atherton Crescent, Tatton, subject to conditions.

Support for Currawarna planning proposal
Council resolved to support a planning proposal to amend the Wagga Wagga Local Environmental Plan 2010 to reduce the minimum lot size from 200 hectares to 2 hectares for land located at 46 Cleek Street, Currawarna.
The proposal will now be submitted to the NSW Department of Planning and Environment for Gateway Determination.

Potential for new use of former Commercial Club site
Council resolved to support a planning proposal to amend the Wagga Wagga Local Environmental Plan 2010 to include ‘office premises’ as an additional permitted use for 77 Gurwood Street, Wagga Wagga, the site of the former Wagga Wagga Commercial Club.
The proposal will now be submitted to the NSW Department of Planning and Environment for Gateway Determination.

Bomen industrial land sales
Council agreed to commence the process for the sale of industrial land owned by Council in Bomen.
The two major sites are at 101 Dorset Drive and 274 East Bomen Road.

Wiradjuri Golf Centre
After receiving four eligible submissions to commence operations at the Wiradjuri Golf Centre following last year’s Expression of Interest process, Council has agreed to enter into a 12-month licence agreement with the preferred applicant.
Council will enter into the short term agreement while further environmental investigations are undertaken to assess the level of development feasible on the site.

Expressions of Interest process to begin for former ambulance station
Council endorsed an Expression of Interest campaign for the licence of property at 54-58 Johnston Street, Wagga Wagga, site of the former ambulance station.
The Expression of Interest campaign will seek applicants for the licence of the property for a maximum of four years (an initial offer of one year with a three year option).

Petition received for community net zero emissions targets
Council agreed to receive and note a petition regarding community targets for net zero emissions.
The petition, coordinated by Climate Rescue of Wagga Wagga Inc, Climate Action Wagga, and Wagga Wagga Fridays for Future, requested that Council support an interim community net zero emissions target of 50 per cent reduction in community emissions by 2030.
The petition also requested that Council develop a plan for its involvement in achieving these targets and consult with the community on how to economically achieve emission reductions.
Council agreed to receive a further report at Council’s Ordinary Meeting on 11 April 2022 in response to the petition received.

Requests for financial assistance
Council supported waiving a $3,700 venue hire fee for Wagga Wagga Water Polo’s staging of the 2022 NSW Country Junior Water Polo Championships at the Oasis Regional Aquatic Centre.

Council has approved the proposed 2021/22 budget variations for the month ended 28 February 2022, and the proposed budget variations to the 2021/22 Long Term Financial Plan Capital Works Program including future year timing adjustments and new projects.
