EOI campaign for Oasis Cafe
Council resolved to endorse Council staff conducting an Expression of Interest campaign for the licence of the kiosk within the Oasis Aquatic Centre.

Concrete works contractors appointed
Council resolved to enter into contracts with several suppliers to undertake general concreting and also kerb and gutter works. The contract is for 2 years and has attached to it 3 x 12-month extension periods, with rates being firm for the first 2-year period.

Short-term accommodation during major infrastructure works
Council received a report regarding a proposed solution in addressing the short-term accommodation demands forecast in the city due to a visiting workforce from major infrastructure projects, as well as longer term housing availability and affordability.

Public artwork in Humula – artist application accepted for local mural
Council resolved to accept the application of artist Alexander Kinneen for the City, Suburbs & Villages 2022/23 commission in Humula. Each City, Suburbs & Villages commission is designed to highlight the unique character of villages, neighbourhoods, and public places.
Wagga Wagga City Council’s Public Art Plan 2022-2026 commits Council to a ‘City, Suburbs & Villages’ public art commission in each of the four years covered by the plan. Each City, Suburbs & Villages commission has a total budget of $15,000 and is designed to highlight the unique character of villages, neighbourhoods, and public places.
The Humula community suggested the Bush Fire Brigade Shed for a mural due to its central location in the village and the significance of the fire brigade in defending the village through many bushfires.
The submission by the artist was chosen after an Expression of Interest process chaired by the Public Art Advisory Panel. The EOI for artists was advertised locally and nationally between Wednesday 22 February to Wednesday 22 March 2023. The Expression Of Interest guidelines called for proposals that would celebrate the community of Humula and its history by invigorating this important piece of community infrastructure.
Alexander Kinneen’s proposed mural design commemorates the Bush Fire Brigade Shed and the NSW Rural Fire Service through an emotive visual story. As a rural village with a small population who have faced many bushfires, the design celebrates Humula’s Bush Fire Brigade Shed as an important site for the community, with a focus on the volunteer firefighters and surrounding natural environment.

Public art project in Mount Austin – artist application accepted
Council resolved to accept the application of artist Damien Mitchell for the Neighbourhood Engagement 2022/23 commission in Mount Austin.
Wagga Wagga City Council’s Public Art Plan 2022-2026 commits Council to a ‘Neighbourhood Engagement’ commission in each of the four years covered by the plan. Each Neighbourhood Engagement commission has a total budget of $20,000 and is designed to engage with the local community through workshops with creative outcomes.
In consultation with the Public Art Advisory Panel (PAAP) and then students and teachers at Mount Austin High School, the neighbourhood of Mount Austin was identified for the 2022/23 Neighbourhood Engagement project.
Mount Austin was chosen for the Neighbourhood Engagement project as it was a great opportunity to connect with the students and teachers at Mount Austin High School. This neighbourhood currently lacks any public art and the students and teachers at Mount Austin High School were enthusiastic in their support of this project.
An Expression of Interest for artists was advertised locally and nationally between Wednesday 22 February and Wednesday 22 March 2023. The Expression of Interest guidelines called for artists who would be able to facilitate workshops with students at Mount Austin High School for the development, design and production of visually appealing creative treatments in locally identified laneways.
