Townsville’s traffic flow has returned to normal, with Townsville City Council crews reopening the Reid Park precinct to motorists this morning.
Crews reopened Boundary Street between Railway Avenue and Woolcock Street and Charters Towers Road from Boundary Street to Ingham Road.
Acting Mayor Les Walker said Council crews had done a fantastic job in deconstructing the Townsville 400 track quickly.
“A lot of work goes into preparing for the Supercars event so the streets had to be closed to put everything in place,” Cr Walker said.
“Council crews worked late last night to deconstruct the track to re-open the road to the public – they did a fantastic job.
“I’d like to thank residents for their patience while the streets were closed.
“The Watpac Townsville 400 was a tremendous success again this year and we couldn’t have organised the event without the support and understanding of residents and motorists.”
