Supporting local athletes

Exeter Soccer Club knows that one of the simplest and cheapest ways an athlete can enhance their performance is to properly hydrate.

That’s why they applied for $6,000 in grant funding through Council’s 2022/23 Community Assistance Scheme to install a water refill station at Exeter Oval.

With additional funding secured through Veolia Mulwaree Trust, the water refill station was installed earlier this month and is now providing quality drinking water to athletes and residents alike.

“Staying hydrated is especially important for athletes,” said Exeter Soccer Club President, Greg White. “It can help it improve performance and reduce the risk of injury.”

“Having a water refill station on hand will mean savings for local families because they won’t need to buy bottled water on game day.”

“Special thanks to who installed the station too,” added Greg.

Council’s Coordinator Community Development, Corrine Buxton, says this grant’s success will benefit other valued family members too.

“The water station we’re funding is multifunctional, serving as a bubbler and bottle refill station. It even has a built-in dog bowl for our four-legged residents and their proud owners,” said Corinne.

“Making fresh drinking water available is one way we can support the health and wellbeing of residents and reduce waste generated by disposable bottles.”

The water refill unit is located on Exeter Road, adjacent to the Village Store.
