Supporting Needs Of All Tasmanians

Tasmanian Government

The Tasmanian Government is providing more support for Tasmanians living with severe and persistent mental illness with the completion of Glenson Place supported accommodation.

The 14-unit group home facility provides supported accommodation for Tasmanians living with severe and persistent mental illness in a safe and modern environment.

The Tasmanian Government has invested $8.5 million into the construction of this facility, with the Fairbrother Foundation generously contributing $2 million towards the project.

Minister for Housing and Planning, Felix Ellis, said through our Government’s 2030 Strong Plan for Tasmania’s Future, we are taking action now to deliver more housing and support for Tasmanians.

“The Glenson Place development provides more Tasmanians living with mental illness with safe, supported, and well-designed accommodation to call home,” Minister Ellis said.

“The project was developed with input from people with lived experience, ensuring it met the needs of our most vulnerable.

“This development showcases what can be delivered when government and industry work together to secure the best outcome for Tasmanians in need.”

The facility is already tenanted and conveniently located close to retail, transport and recreational space, allowing the residents to engage in services in their area.
