Surf Coast Shire Council is maintaining focus on delivery of community programs where possible as the COVID-19 pandemic evolves.
Kindergartens and aged care services are among programs continuing to operate at this time.
“We appreciate that people might be feeling a great deal of uncertainty and concern at this time,” Chief Executive Officer Keith Baillie said.
“As an organisation we need to be proactive in the face of a rapidly changing set of circumstances, but we are striving to maintain essential services where possible and we understand that vulnerable people need support.
“Our decision-making is being guided by the Victorian Government and Victoria’s Chief Health Officer. Given the dynamic environment we can expect more changes and we will keep our communities informed.”

Council is committed to helping prevent spread of the virus by minimising contact between people where possible.
From Tuesday morning, 17 March, Council’s main office customer service, and planning and building services will transition to phone, email and internet-based service. Accordingly the front door at Council’s office will be closed until further notice. Cash payments can however still be made at Australia Post shops.
The move follows a similar transition by Visitor Information Centre staff on the weekend.
