Supporting our customers affected by the East Coast severe weather

Severe weather sweeping across large areas of South East Queensland and Northern New South Wales has seen communities impacted by damaging storms, heavy rainfall and flooding.

Our priority is the safety of residents across the impacted communities and we urge everyone to stay up to date with the latest weather warnings and follow the directions of the emergency authorities.

We have a dedicated Major Event teams in place all year round so we are ready to support customers with emergency repairs, temporary accommodation and emergency funds.

Our assessors and builders are on the ground with extra resources on standby to help impacted customers as soon as it safe to access impacted areas.

Acting Executive General Manager Direct Claims, David Wilkes, said IAG is ready to support customers affected by this severe weather.

“Safety is the number one priority and we’re here to help our customers with emergency support,” Mr Wilkes said.

“We’re encouraging our customers to lodge their claim online or via the phone when it is safe to do so – the sooner claims are lodged, the sooner we can start get them the support they need at this time.

“Where it’s safe to do so our assessors and builders are ensuring damaged properties are safe and looking at the repairs required.

“We’re also on standby to move into the flood impacted areas once it’s safe to do so.”

We encourage local residents and communities to contact the emergency authorities such as our partners the NSW SES should they face a flood emergency .

Tragically seven people have died in the flood disaster. We are reminding customers to focus on staying safe and follow the directions of the emergency services as the severe weather continues.
