People in regional, rural and remote communities have worse health outcomes and shorter life expectancies than those living in metropolitan areas.
The MRFF supports these communities by investing in research that addresses their specific health and healthcare needs and reduces health inequities.
Between 2015 and 30 April 2023, the MRFF invested:
- $297.4 million in 70 grants that focused on regional, rural and remote health research or on research in these areas
- $86.5 million in 42 grants for organisations located in regional, rural and remote areas.
