Surveys open for Goornong and Elmore Township Plans

New community surveys have opened which will help to inform and develop township plans for Elmore and Goornong respectively.

The township plans for both areas will build on existing community strengths and qualities and establish a framework to guide what services, facilities and infrastructure are needed to support growing and changing communities in Elmore and Goornong over the next 20+ years.

City of Greater Bendigo Director Strategy and Growth Steve Hamilton said the development of Elmore and Goornong Township Plans were temporarily halted last year due to the COVID-19 pandemic but now work was well underway with an opportunity for the community to get involved.

“These plans will help to identify the features what the communities in Goornong and Elmore value and need protecting and to look at how to support a growing population over the coming years with the right services, facilities and infrastructure,” Mr Hamilton said.

“The City has opened community surveys for both townships on the City’s online engagement platform Let’s Talk and feedback from residents will play an important role.

“Share your knowledge and experiences either as a resident or someone who has a connection to Elmore or Goornong.

“Tell us what you value, what you enjoy and what could be improved for the benefit of the community and future generations.

“We want to hear feedback on how Elmore and Goornong can become more cohesive and connected to enhance liveability as the townships continue to grow.

“Your feedback is important as the survey results will go towards informing the development of both draft township plans.

“The City is working towards preparing both draft township plans by the middle of 2022 and there will be several consultation opportunities for the community to have their say on the future growth and development of the townships.”

The Let’s Talk surveys will be open until Monday December 20, 2021.
