A suspended driver has been charged after he was allegedly caught driving almost five times the legal limit on the state’s Central Coast yesterday.
About 3.45pm (Thursday 11 August 2022), officers attached to Tuggerah Lakes Police District stopped a Mitsubishi Triton travelling north along Polimar Parade, Toukley, after receiving reports of concerns for the driver’s welfare.
Police spoke to the driver – a 56-year-old man – before checks revealed he had been suspended from driving.
The man underwent a roadside breath test which returned a positive result.
He was arrested and taken to Wyong Police Station, where he underwent a secondary breath analysis, which returned an alleged reading of 0.244.
The man was charged with drive with high range prescribed concentration of alcohol, and drive while licence suspended.
He was granted conditional bail and will appear at Wyong Local Court on 19 September 2022.
