The annual Sustainable Canberra Expo will showcase the latest sustainable technologies and initiatives in energy, waste, water and transport to Canberra households and businesses in the ACT.
Minister for Water, Energy and Emissions Reduction Shane Rattenbury said the ACT Government has introduced the Expo so all Canberrans can attend and learn about solutions and actions they can make to help combat climate change.
“The Sustainable Canberra Expo is a free event for the community held over two days to give everyone an opportunity to learn and experience exciting, innovative and practical ways they can reduce emissions to help address climate change through simple changes in their households or businesses,” Minister Rattenbury said.
“With more than 60 exhibitors showcasing the best available sustainable products and services, there is something for everyone at the Expo. From test driving one of the 20 electric vehicles on display to induction cooking lessons from MasterChef finalist Simon Toohey and some of Canberra’s top chefs.
“You can also get expert advice from industry leaders to help you determine the most affordable way to switch your home or business to more energy efficient electric appliances.
“There will be retailers, innovators and community groups to connect with and hear about the exciting ways they are taking climate action. Information will also be available about ACT Government support including rebates and financial incentives.
“There’s plenty for the kids to enjoy as well, with free face-painting, art workshops, tomato seedling planting and a pop-up exhibit run by Questacon.
“Achieving our net zero emissions by 2045 target will be a joint effort by the Canberra community. We can all make a difference, and it starts with small steps and smart choices.
The Sustainable Canberra Expo is on Friday 13 and Saturday 14 October at Thoroughbred Park.
