The Sustainable Household Scheme has reached another significant milestone, with over 20,000 Canberra households having now applied to participate in the Sustainable Household Scheme to make their homes more energy efficient.
The Sustainable Household Scheme has approved $200 million in loans and supported the installation of almost 17,000 sustainable upgrades since it commenced in July 2021, saving households money on their energy bills and reducing the ACT’s carbon footprint.
Through the Scheme, Canberrans have access to zero-interest loans and rebates for a range of energy-saving upgrades, including efficient heating and cooling, cooktop and hot water systems, solar panels, battery storage, electric vehicles and ceiling insulation.
As a world leader in climate action, the ACT is committed to achieving net zero emissions by 2045. The Sustainable Household Scheme is a key part of our strategy, and the success we are seeing demonstrates the power of collective action.
This milestone is a testament to the dedication and leadership of our community in tackling climate change. Canberrans are leading the way, showing that transitioning to a clean energy future is achievable and beneficial for everyone.
To celebrate this milestone and showcase the incredible efforts of Canberrans, the ACT Government has launched a new . This interactive tool allows users to explore the impact of the Scheme across the ACT, including:
- Which suburbs are leading the charge in sustainability;
- What’s the most popular upgrade in your neighbourhood;
