Due to further Covid-19 restrictions announced by the State Government over the weekend, the Swan Hill Regional Livestock Exchange, including its sheep sale, will no longer be open to the public.
Swan Hill Rural City Council’s Director Infrastructure Svetla Petkova said that given the 20-person limit as part of the new restrictions, Council would not be able to open the yards to the public this week.
“Due to these restrictions announced over the weekend, we are only able to open the yards to core buyers,” Ms Petkova said.
“The number of core buyers at the yards will be limited to a maximum of 20 people, with strict social distancing to be adhered to at all times.”
Both cattle and sheep yards will remain closed to the public while restrictions are in place.
“We also remind core buyers to not attend the livestock exchange yards if they are unwell,” Ms Petkova added.
“This is to ensure the safety of our staff and other buyers at the site.”
The Swan Hill Regional Livestock Exchange will continue to monitor and review the situation in the event of further easing of restrictions.
