A woman has died following a head-on crash on the Sydney Harbour Bridge this morning.
Just before 7.15am (Thursday 27 August 2020), emergency services were called to the Bradfield Highway, after reports a Mitsubishi Mirage travelling north and a BMW travelling south collided.
The BMW subsequently collided with a Jeep travelling in the same direction.
The female driver of the Mitsubishi, who is yet to be formally identified, died at the scene.
The Mitsubishi passengers – two men, aged 21 and 23 – were treated and taken to Royal Prince Alfred Hospital. The younger man suffered head injuries and remains in a critical condition, while the older man remains in a stable condition.
The driver of the BMW, a 40-year-old woman was freed from the wreckage after being trapped for some time. She was taken to Royal North Shore Hospital suffering a fractured leg and spinal injuries and remains in a stable condition. She also underwent mandatory testing.
The BMW passenger, a 40-year-old man, was uninjured and taken to Royal North Shore as a precaution.
The Jeep driver, a 49-year-old woman, was uninjured and taken to Sydney Hospital for mandatory testing.
Officers from Sydney City Police Area Command attended and established a crime scene.
The Metropolitan Crash Investigation Unit have commenced an investigation into the circumstances surrounding the crash.
