The Property Council of Australia welcomes the announcement that approval has been secured for the new $1.5bn ‘Tech Central’ set to create Australia’s answer to Silicon Valley with a vibrant innovation and technology precinct in heart of Sydney’s CBD.
Property Council’s NSW Executive Director Luke Achterstraat said the new vision would see Sydney become the home of the biggest technology hub of its kind in Australia.
“The future belongs to Sydney with Tech Central being home to Australia’s first hub for Quantum Computing startups, The ³Ô¹ÏÍøÕ¾ Space Industry Hub as well a Cybersecurity Placement Program,” Mr Achterstraat said.
“The latest and one-of-a-kind precinct will be at the forefront of the 250,000 square metre a-grade office space, with their new headquarters moving over 4,000 employees to the CBD.
“This is great news as we begin to recover from the aftermath of COVID, to have innovative mega-developments like this on their way only reinforces us as a dominant global city.
“The concept of a thriving ecosystem of world-class universities, startups and tech is expected to create 25,000 jobs by 2036 and we expect it to be recognised from all around the world.
“As we move into the future we will need to continue to innovate and create ways to entice people into our CBDs – this is a prime example of that.
