Sydney’s Northern Beaches set to host Gin Festival

Harbord Diggers

There’s no denying we’re a city of gin lovers, so it comes as good news that Harbord Diggers has announced its popular event, It’s a Gin Thing is returning on Saturday 25 March 2023 from 12pm. Cheers to that!

The event will take over the Diggers outdoor Ocean Terrace, bringing with it eight companies from across the world, showcasing over 25 different gins. As well as showcasing some of Australia’s finest gins, there will be a selection from India, Sweden and America giving enthusiasts a chance to extend their knowledge and discover new brands.

Gin connoisseurs and liquor lovers will be given the opportunity to taste the best of craft and popular gins, direct from distillers with the iconic venue at Freshwater Beach providing a spectacular outdoor backdrop.

Dale Hunt, Mounties Group CEO is excited to welcome the event back to the Diggers for the third time with event vendors including Love Delhi Gin, Manly Spirits Co, Four Pillars, Archie Rose, Joadja Distillery, Goodradigbee Distillers, Herno Gin and Finders Distillery. Event partners, Strangelove are also providing their popular tonic for the event to ensure guests have the perfect mixer to pair with drops on display.

“Our gin event at the Diggers has been hugely popular over the last five years and we are pleased to welcome some new suppliers to the line-up to showcase the very best from here and offshore with our members and guests,” explained Dale Hunt, Mounties Group CEO.

“Gin distillers all have some really interesting botanicals in the gins on showcase at this year’s event and we are looking forward to enjoying a tasting experience with friends as we wind down into autumn,” he added.

The festival follows closely behind the gin trend that has swept through bars and bottle shops around Australia, bringing with it a shift in the industry that sees distillers pushing the flavour boundaries.

“The gin industry has expanded quite rapidly over the past few years, and we’re really excited to see so many local and international distillers coming onboard to showcase their gin products to the Northern Beaches,” continued Dale.

Manly Spirits Co will feature their unique products which capture the harmony between carefree beach life and urban sophistication for which Manly is renowned.

“Any gin-lover knows the classic G&T originated in India, as a palatable drink for the British to consume the quinine that protected them from Malaria,” explains Logan from Manly Spirits Co.

“Our founders merge their own tropical botanicals and origins to reimagine the classic G&T, drawing on global and homegrown craft in their stunning tipple.

“Inspired from the demand for a top-quality tropical gin and tailored to complement the coastline, Manly Spirits Co’s Beaches Gin quenches a worldwide thirst for gin while remaining loyal to its origins and we’re excited to showcase it at the iconic Harbord Diggers for this special event,” concluded Logan.

It’s a Gin Thing will provide an opportunity for guests to meet the people behind the fascinating story of each gin, capturing the passion and craftsmanship that goes into making the much-loved drop.

Tickets are just $40 per person and includes eight distinct gin samples, two fresh Sydney Rock Oysters, live entertainment, and fun in the sun at the Diggers.
