Tails wagging for Swan Hill’s paw-some new dog park

Tails will be wagging as Swan Hill’s new dog park is officially opened on Wednesday, 24 November at 11am.

Swan Hill Rural City Council extends an invitation to dog owners and their furry friends to join in the official opening celebrations – doggie gift bags will be provided to guests and their companions.

Council’s Director Development and Planning, Heather Green said the new dog park included two separate areas-one large area for active dogs and a smaller area for quieter dogs.

The park is fully fenced and has a drinking fountain, dog water bowls, seating, circuit path and sensory elements such as logs and rocks and tree plantings providing natural shade.

“The new park allows our local community to exercise and socialise their dogs as well as connect with other dog owners,” Ms Green said.

Ms Green said council recognised the important role pets play in the lives of residents and visitors to the area.

“This project acknowledges the importance of dogs particularly in terms of companionship; meeting new people; staying active and healthy; and for older people, staying independent,” she added.

The Barry Steggall Off Leash Dog Park is supported by the Victorian Government through the Suburban Parks Program and Building Works program.
