The Nillumbik Seniors Festival program for 2022 kicks off Tuesday 4 October from 12pm, with the Seniors Social Lunch at Eltham Community and Reception Centre.
Come along and enjoy a delicious lunch, and meet new friends while being entertained by Australian progressive rock band Spectrum.
The theme of this year’s Victorian Seniors Festival, which is celebrating its 40th year is ‘Takin’ it Easy’. The program has a strong focus on health and well-being, with free or low-cost preventative health events and sessions to help you feel connected, refreshed and at ease.
Nillumbik Mayor, Frances Eyre said that Council participates annually in this festival to recognise and celebrate people over 50 in the Shire.
“It’s an opportunity to encourage the participation of older people in community activities and events,” Cr Eyre said.
“After the past two-and-half years of COVID-19, it’s more important than ever to find ways to get out and connect with each other once again. Regardless of your background, experience or mobility, I encourage you to join in, learn a skill and make new friends in our community.”
Some of the great activities and opportunities to enjoy include yoga, qi gong, gardening workshops, come and try art, drama and musical performances.
As well as the opening Social Lunch, the calendar of events wraps up on Friday 28 October from 11am at Montsalvat with Morning Melody. Join ‘Duo Varie’ for a morning of marvellous classical music for clarinet and pianoforte.
