Task Force Magnus detectives have recovered five stolen vehicles and charged a man for his alleged involvement in the stealing and providing of cars to Organised Criminal Networks for the purpose of violent crime.
Between 1am and 5.30am on Monday 23 October 2023, a grey Volkswagen Amarok, Porsche Caynee and Dodge Ram truck were allegedly stolen from homes in Russell Lea and Kingsford.
Later that day, task force Magnus officers located the Porsche and Volkswagen in Erskineville and the Dodge Ram truck in St Peters.
All three vehicles were seized for forensic examination.
As part of ongoing inquiries into the thefts, on Tuesday 7 November 2023, detectives made a public appeal for information to identify two men captured on CCTV getting out of the Porsche in Erskineville, before getting into a silver Mazda CX5.
About 7.20am yesterday (Friday 10 November 2023), task force officers executed a search warrant at an address in Ryde, where they arrested a 32-year-old man.
During a search of the address, police located and seized a Mazda CX5 and multiple sets of car keys; belonging to two Audis and a BMW that were allegedly stolen from Wollstonecraft and the Ryde area the night before.
Police went on to locate two of the three allegedly stolen cars in North Sydney and East Ryde that afternoon.
The man was taken to Gladesville Police Station, where he was charged with five offences including three counts of aggravated break and enter with intent – knowing person there and one count of receive property-theft=serious indictable offence > $5000.
He was refused bail to appear before Parramatta Local Court today (Saturday 11 November 2023).
