I was honoured to host today’s Indigenous Affairs Ministers Meeting in Hobart.
It was an excellent opportunity to hear from my State and Territory colleagues about the work being done in their jurisdictions, as well having the chance to discuss the progress being made here in Tasmania.
Federal Minister for Indigenous Affairs, Linda Burney, also highlighted the work being done by the Commonwealth Government, including work to enshrine an Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander Voice in the Constitution.
The Rockliff Liberal Government is committed to delivering better outcomes for Tasmanian Aboriginal people and their families, in partnership with Tasmanian Aboriginal people.
Last week, the Tasmanian Government announced the membership of the Aboriginal Advisory group.
Comprised of Aboriginal people, the advisory group will work together with the Tasmanian Government to design a process for Truth-telling and Treaty in our State that is led by Aboriginal people.
I would like to thank everyone who attended today’s meeting in Hobart and I look forward to continuing to work together to improve the lives of Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander people across the country.
