Tasmania Police takes action during ³Ô¹ÏÍøÕ¾ Road Safety Week

With ³Ô¹ÏÍøÕ¾ Road Safety Week launched today, Tasmania Police is reaffirming its commitment to reducing the number of deaths and injuries on our roads.

Assistant Commissioner Adrian Bodnar said eight lives have already been lost on Tasmanian roads this year, with more than 114 people suffering serious injuries in crashes.

“We cannot overlook the devastating impact of these crashes on our communities,” he said.

“During ³Ô¹ÏÍøÕ¾ Road Safety Week, Tasmania Police will play an active role in promoting road safety through targeted enforcement activities and community engagement initiatives.”

“Every life lost and every injury sustained on our roads is a tragic reminder of the importance of road safety, and our goal is to prevent crashes and ensure that everyone on the road is following the rules.”

“³Ô¹ÏÍøÕ¾ Road Safety Week provides an opportunity for all Tasmanians to unite in an effort to reduce road trauma and prevent the unnecessary loss of life.”

“Collaboration between police and the community is essential to keeping our roads safe, and members of the public are encouraged to contact us if they witness reckless driving, hooning behaviour, or other driving offences.”

“Information can be provided by calling police on 131 444 or submitting footage or other evidence to our online portal at police.tas.gov.au/report, but in an emergency, always call Triple-Zero (000).”

“Road safety is everyone’s responsibility, and we must work together to create safer road environments.”

“We’re urging all road users to prioritise safety, adhere to road rules, and remain vigilant on the road.”

“Together, we can make a difference and save lives.”
