Tasmania ready for cricket’s next World Cup

Jeremy Rockliff,Minister for Sport and Recreation

Following the dramatic conclusion of the recent ICC Cricket World Cup in England, excitement is building for Tasmanians as we prepare to host games during the ICC T20 World Cup 2020.

The Hodgman Liberal Government is a strong supporter of cricket and has been working hard with Cricket Tasmania to secure the games.

Hobart will showcase more men’s T20 World Cup 2020 matches than any other Australian city when some of the world’s leading cricket teams battle it out at Bellerive Oval in October next year.

We know that local Tasmanian businesses will reap the rewards of having these games played in our state thanks to the huge number of players, officials and fans set to visit during the tournament.

Tasmania will be hosting six national teams, including Bangladesh and New Zealand, with tickets available from $20 for adults and $5 for children.

The T20 World Cup will be broadcast to a global audience of more than 1 billion people, providing an excellent opportunity to enhance our state’s international profile and reputation as the boutique events capital of Australia, and showcase Hobart’s Blundstone Arena as a world-class sporting venue.

Cricket fans can register now for early access to tickets at , with sales to the general public opening in October this year.
