Tasmania’s Taste of Summer kicks off on the Hobart waterfront

Nic Street, Minister for Stadia and Events

The iconic Taste of Summer festival kicked off today on the Hobart waterfront with the support of the Rockliff Liberal Government.

Minister for Stadia and Events, Nic Street said hungry visitors have been streaming through the gates in a bid to sample the very best of what Tasmania has to offer.

“With a bigger program on offer and an extended opening taking us through until 6 January, the atmosphere at this year’s Taste is buzzing,” Minister Street said.

“The Taste provides a valuable platform for quality producers from across the State as tourists and locals flock from far and wide to take advantage of this one stop shop of everything Tasmanian.

“The Rockliff Liberal Government recognises the significant value that this event brings for local producers and suppliers and we are staunch supporters of what is a Hobart summer staple.

“That’s why, through Events Tasmania, we’re proud to be supporting the Taste via our $7.7 million investment over five years, taking us through to 2026.

“Under the Rockliff Liberal Government’s Events Strategy 2023-27 we want events that deliver across three pillars: economic, social and brand.

“The Taste has all three in spades, drawing large visitation and stimulating strong economic activity while providing an important social hub for Tasmanians over the Christmas and New Year Period.

“Tickets are still available but spaces are limited, so if you’re still on the fence get in quick.”
