The Rockliff Liberal Government has secured a $1.23 million agreement with Collingwood Magpies Netball that will see the team play one pre-season game and one Suncorp Super Netball game in Tasmania each year for the next three years.
Minister for Hospitality and Events, Nic Street said locking in the partnership would provide access to elite sport for budding Tasmanian athletes at both ends of the State.
“The continuation of our partnership will give Tasmanians access to elite netball content in their own backyard, and also importantly provide young Tasmanians with exposure to elite female athletes competing at a national level.
I’m also pleased to confirm that content will be played in the north and south of the state each year. I urge all Tasmanians to take advantage of this unique opportunity and head along to show your support to the Collingwood Magpies in 2023 and beyond”.
The renewed partnership forms part of the Rockliff Liberal Government’s commitment to securing sporting content in the state, encourage increased participation in sport and promote pathways for young Tasmanian athletes aspiring to compete at the elite level.
With Netball Australia scheduling confirmed for 2023, the Collingwood Magpies will take on the Queensland Firebirds in a pre-season game in the north during the weekend of 3-5 February and West Coast Fever in an in-season game on Saturday 17 June at MyState Bank Arena.
