Tasmanian businesses invited to join Japan and South Korea trade mission

Jeremy Rockliff, Minister for Trade

Tasmanian businesses have the opportunity to increase international sales and find new export customers through participation in a trade and investment mission to Japan and South Korea in March 2023.

Expressions of interest are now open for businesses and associations to join the next delegation under our Tasmanian Trade and Investment Mission Plan 2024.

Japan and South Korea are in Tasmania’s top five export markets and are identified as key trading partners within the Tasmanian Trade Strategy 2019-2025.

This mission provides Tasmanian businesses with direct in-market opportunities to explore, expand, reconnect, and build meaningful partnerships to foster brand awareness and new sales opportunities.

The mission will facilitate investment, business and diplomatic engagements to drive long-term growth prospects and include a presence at Japan’s largest food and beverage exhibition, FOODEX 2023 in Tokyo.

Our trade partnerships with Japan and South Korea represent an annual economic injection well above $800 million and there is significant opportunity to further grow these markets.

Recent participants of the trade and investment missions to New Zealand, Singapore and Vietnam are already reaping major benefits with new connections, contracts and market learnings gained.

Emerging and established exporters interested in growing trade with Japan and South Korea are invited to submit an Expressions of Interest by Friday 9 December 2022.

The Japan and South Korea trade mission is an opportunity to further cement Tasmania’s position as one of the best places to live, invest and do business, and to further grow and diversify our economic opportunities.
