The Australian College of Nursing (ACN) Tasmanian Region is hosting a special breakfast conversation event to celebrate International Nurses Day on Thursday 12 May.
The event, which kicks off at 7.30am at Hadley’s Orient Hotel in Hobart, is headlined by Tasmania’s own Chief Nurse, Adjunct Professor Francine Douce MACN and Brent Foreman MACN, the Executive Director of Nursing at the Royal Hobart Hospital.
It will bring together nurses from the ACN’s Tasmanian Region, a collective of dedicated local nurses who volunteer their time to facilitating discussion and community with their colleagues across the state.
“International Nurses Day is a time of celebration for our profession and reflecting on the difference we make to the lives of Tasmanians across all corners of the state,” ACN Tasmania State Chair and Registered Nurse Nancy Arnold FACN said.
“It is particularly important to acknowledge the range of areas we support our communities, both at and beyond the beside. Nurses work in an incredibly diverse range of settings such as community and primary care, aged care, universities, hospitals and mental health, just to name a few examples.
“To celebrate the day, the ACN Tasmanian Region will be hosting a ‘Conversation to Celebrate International Nurses Day’ event which will be a great chance for nurses to connect with each other and hear from some our state’s most influential nurses. “
“Throughout COVID-19, Tasmanian nurses have showed outstanding leadership to navigate our state through unprecedented challenges and protect our most vulnerable. With restrictions beginning to ease, this event is an important time for us to come together and celebrate everything it means to be a nurse. I would like to thank my colleagues in the region for their support in making it possible.”
