Tasmanian fine timber reclaimed from the depths of Lake Pieman and crafted into artistic furniture by London-based Tasmanian designer Brodie Neill, will be on display to around 115,000 people at this week’s London Craft Week.
A collaboration of the Tasmanian Government, Design Tasmania, Hydrowood and Brodie Neill, this year’s Tasmanian representation at this significant trade show through the ‘ReCoil’ exhibit is a litmus test for future trade missions and trade show participation in the United Kingdom.
Combining some of the world’s finest wood in Hydrowood’s highly sought-after reclaimed timber, with Neill’s renowned design talents will open up the beauty of Tasmanian timber to artisans and lovers of beautiful things from around the world.
We expect that with the Australia-UK Free Trade Agreement progressing, more opportunities will open up for Tasmanian businesses and industries, especially those focussed on high-quality, high-value products.
By creating a partnership like this one we are laying the foundations to take advantage of the opportunities than the FTA will present and strengthening the overall commercial opportunities for our creative and manufacturing industries and Tasmanian timber products.
Tasmanians also won’t miss out, with Design Tasmania’s Launceston galleries also hosting a virtual showcase of Neill’s work with Hydrowood timber in 2021.
‘ReCoil’ will return to Design Tasmania’s galleries for exhibition in December 2022.
