Tasmanians Ready To Feast At Taste Of Summer

Preparations are well underway for one of Tasmania’s most iconic summer events, the Taste of Summer.

Minister for Sport and Events, Nic Street, said more than 85,000 people are expected to enjoy the State’s finest produce at the event this year.

“The days are getting longer and it really does feel like summer is just around the corner. With the arrival of the warmer weather comes a whole suite of events as part of the Tasmanian summer events calendar, including the iconic Taste of Summer,” Minister Street said.

“It’s fantastic to see preparations are in full swing, the entertainment has been announced and tickets are on sale.”

The Tasmanian Government is a proud supporter of this event, with the Government committed to securing key iconic events through our 2030 Strong Plan for Tasmania’s Future.

“Tasmania’s Taste of Summer provides a platform for local producers and suppliers to showcase their product to a wide audience of visitors and locals,” Minister Street.

“Getting out and about on the Hobart waterfront over the holiday period is an iconic part of Tasmania’s Summer, and this event supports local businesses and brings vibrancy to the area.

“That’s why, through Events Tasmania, we’re proud to be supporting the Taste via our $7.7 million investment over five years, taking us through to 2026.”

Last year’s event featured 90 Tasmanian stall holders, 60 local musicians and attracted around 85,000 people over the nine day event, and injected $5 million into Tasmania’s economy.

More than 30 per cent of ticket sales for last year’s event came from international and interstate visitors.

“That is fantastic for our broader visitor economy and small businesses, and I hope to see bigger numbers this year,” Minister Street said.

Tasmania’s Taste of Summer will be on between 28 December 2024 and 4 January 2025.
