Tassie’s Best Showcased In Seasonal Produce Guide

Tasmanian Government

The Fruit Grower’s Tasmania Seasonal Produce Guide has been launched for another year, showcasing some of Tasmania’s best and freshest seasonal produce.

The Seasonal Produce Guide is an annual publication, providing information for both Tasmanians and tourists.

Minister for Primary Industries and Water, Jane Howlett, said the guide is a great resource for consumers sourcing the best seasonal produce.

“People travelling around Tasmania can use the new Guide to find some of our world-class apples, pears, cherries, berries and stonefruit, nuts, honey and vegetables from producers in growing districts across the State,” Minister Howlett said.

“The release of this Guide coincides with the beginning of the summer fruit season as well as the summer tourism influx.

“The guide encourages visitors to get out into regional communities to visit the farms and towns to enjoy the amazing local produce.

“The Tasmanian Government is a proud supporter of our fruit industry, which is an important part of the ambitious target to sustainably grow the annual farm gate value of agriculture to $10 billion by 2050.

“Today’s agri-tourism visitors to Tasmania are more tech-savvy and are using digital technology for travel. As part of the 2024-25 State Budget, the Tasmanian Government has invested $35,000 to help Fruit Growers Tasmania transition the Seasonal Produce Guide to a digital version for 2025.”

The Tasmanian fruit sector is a key contributor to Tasmania agriculture production, with a farm gate value of $324.7 million in the 2021-22 financial year. Led by the berry sector that was worth $194 million.

Fruit growers are integral to the agricultural industry, fostering community connections, supporting local economies and promoting healthy living through providing Tasmania with the availability of nutritious, farm-fresh fruits.

Our 2030 Strong Plan for Tasmania’s Future is backing our farmers so they can grow their economies and create jobs.
